How to Get Rid of Stretch Marks Using Natural Ingredients

Stretch marks are an incredibly common problem faced by people throughout the world. Even though these lines typically appear lighter than your natural skin pigment, they feel like slight indentations and ridges.

While rapid weight loss and weight gain are one of the most common causes of stretch marks, there are many other reasons as well! Some people who are extremely susceptible to stretch marks include pregnant women, children during their growing age, and athletes with muscle-building exercise routines.

Even though stretch marks are nothing to be ashamed of since they are a natural occurrence, but their appearance on the abdomen, upper arms, buttocks, thighs and other parts not only cause itchiness, but also diminish one’s self-esteem.

Wondering about how to get rid of stretch marks? Looking for the best treatment for removing stretch marks? Tired of applying stretch mark creams without any results?

We’ve got some interesting natural ingredients and techniques lined up for you to help keep stretch marks at bay!

Aloe Vera

The gel extracted from an aloe vera plant serves as a great natural ingredient for the regeneration of skin tissue. Not only does this pulp help heal damaged skin, but it also works more effectively than any generic drugstore stretch mark cream. The aloe vera plant is generally very moisturizing, delivering your skin with the hydration it needs to combat stretch marks. Scoop out the sticky gel from inside the leaf and get rid of the outer layer and apply the pulp of the aloe vera leaf at least twice a day. You can keep it on for a few minutes and then wash it or wipe it off with a wet towel.

Cocoa Butter

Who isn’t familiar with this sweet-smelling natural ingredient? Mostly found in moisturizers, cocoa butter is extremely hydrating for your skin. A known fact is that pregnant women who apply cocoa butter hardly suffer from any stretch marks. Yes! This hydrating ingredient serves as a great way to restore elasticity back to your skin.

Cucumber and Lemon Juice

Stretch marks are found in various colors, depending on the time duration since their appearance and the factor that caused them in the first place. Light red or purple stretch marks are a common occurrence during pregnancy, however, they can be pretty off-putting due to their striking appearance.

If you are searching for a way to lighten or reduce these marks, a great way is to use a combination of two extremely acidic substances – lemon and cucumber. Mixing equal parts of lemon and cucumber juice create an acidic mixture that helps soothe and smooth the appearance of stretch marks.

Almond and Coconut Oil

Almond oil and coconut oil make a natural concoction that can help in the reduction of stretch marks over a long period time. If you find the smell of the mixture to be overpowering, you can add a few drops of rose oil or lavender to create a scented stretch mark oil that you can apply daily.

Castor Oil

This natural ingredient delivers some much-needed moisture and nourishment to your skin and stretch marks, helping heal your skin. The regular application of castor oil also helps smoothen out stretch marks, keeping your skin supply.

You are supposed to apply castor oil directly on the area where you have stretch marks and massage it for at least 15-20 minutes in circular motions. For the best results, you should cover the massaged area with a thin cotton cloth and supply it with some heat through a heating pad. Follow this technique for at least a month to get effective results.

Argan Oil

Argan oil is a very popular ingredient that is used in a variety of natural skincare products. Loaded with vitamin E, this fantastic ingredient greatly enhances the elasticity of the skin. Gently rubbing argan oil on the stretch mark-infected area helps heal the broken skin tissues, which helps the stretch marks gradually fade away.

Lemon

Lemon can be combined with other ingredients, but is also effective on its own. Renowned for its natural bleaching properties, this acidic ingredient is great at reducing the visibility of your stretch marks effectively. There are two main ways to use lemon for stretch marks. You can either juice it out and apply it on the affected areas or you can simply rub a lemon wedge for visible results.

Egg Whites

The white portion of an egg is extremely high in proteins and amino acids, making it a superfood for your skin. Even though it might be a smelly process, but applying egg whites on your skin can be really effective at reducing stretch marks. Not only does it help in decreasing the visibility of the marks, but it also helps tighten your skin.

Potato Juice

Potato juice is considered as another natural ingredient that is really effective at reducing stretch marks. Not only do potatoes contain starch, but they also contain other skin lighting enzymes. This is why they are very effective at reducing dark spots and circles, and blemishes from the skin. Due to its effective bleaching properties, potatoes are great for reducing the visibility of stretch marks upon regular application.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is one of the best foods in general. Packed with antioxidants, moisturizing properties, and other fantastic nutrients, this ingredient serves to repair skin damage. The application of cold-pressed olive oil on your stretch marks can help reduce their appearance over time.

Sugar Scrub

You can use a sugar, lemon juice, and olive oil to make a scrub. Apply this mixture to your stretch marks, followed by a 10-minute rigorous massage.  You can then rinse it off with lukewarm water and wipe it off with a towel. Repeat this a few times a month for effective results.

Apricots

Apricots contain some great properties such as vitamin C and E, and other antioxidants that are very beneficial for your skin. You can start by removing the seeds and grinding 2 to 3 apricots to form a smooth paste. Then apply the paste on your stretch marks and leave it on for at least 20 minutes. You can then rinse it off with lukewarm water and gently wipe it with a towel.

Body Mask from Your Pantry

You can also make a body mask using some readily available ingredients from your pantry to effectively get rid of stretch marks. Add to eggs to a bowl and beat them while adding the juice of one lemon. Then add two teaspoons of oatmeal and two teaspoons of almond powder to make a paste. Apply this mask on your stretch marks and leave it on for a few minutes before washing it off. Use this method every alternate day for at least a month to see results.

Natural Stretch Mark Cream

One great solution to get rid of stretch marks is to search for a natural cream for stretch marks. Some of the ingredients that you need to look for in a natural cream include Glycerin and fruit extract. These ingredients serve as natural hydrators and exfoliants that can help restore your skin to its natural form. In order to diminish stretch marks quite rapidly, you should apply this cream at least twice a day.

Getting rid of stretch marks using natural ingredients involves a two-pronged approach: nourishing the skin and promoting skin elasticity. Start by keeping your skin well-moisturized; natural oils such as coconut oil, almond oil, or olive oil are excellent for this. These oils are rich in vitamins and antioxidants that can help repair and hydrate the skin. Gently massage the oil onto the stretch marks daily. This not only moisturizes the skin but also improves blood circulation, which can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks over time.

In addition to oil treatments, you can use natural exfoliants to promote skin regeneration. A popular home remedy is a sugar scrub, which can be made by mixing sugar with a small amount of almond or olive oil and a few drops of lemon juice. Gently rub this mixture on the stretch marks in a circular motion before rinsing off. This exfoliation removes dead skin cells and encourages the growth of new, more elastic skin.

Also, aloe vera, known for its healing and soothing properties, can be applied directly to the affected areas to support skin repair. Remember, consistency is key, and these natural remedies often require regular use over a period of time to see noticeable results.

Emily,

My mom always told me drinking water was the most important skin care tip. I also think the less you do to your skin the better. I’m a fan of simple and natural products. Aloe Vera and Cocoa butter are good natural ingredients.

I have been using aloe vera and cocoa butter for a few months now on my stretch marks and I can say that it has made a considerable difference! I have never had any natural remedies work like this for me.

One of the natural ingredients that I used myself is the Aloe Vera. I may try in the future the Cocoa Butter to boost the treatment a little bit. Thanks Christine for this great article.
